One of the primary psychological and political mechanisms for engineering mass compliance is by government and media invoking the concept of “the greater good” in order to formalise a system of peer pressure among populations, and by framing any dissent as selfish behaviour intended to do harm the collective. This method has been used successfully by communist and other oppressive regimes throughout history. It was no surprise then that when the ‘global pandemic’ narrative was launched in early 2020, that governments and mainstream media quickly began tailoring their propaganda and messaging to suit a collectivist paradigm.
